Underground, Overground ...

We really could have done with writing several blog posts this month, so here is a bit of a combo ....

The weather has been great, possibly the best Indian Summer in memory. Our working life has been busy and very rewarding but there has also been opportunity for leisure and time away! October has been as full and enjoyable as September, so far ...

Underground, there has been a cracking in Hartsop Hall Lead Mine in the Lake District. The walk in alongside Brotherswater & past the Hall led in a straightforward manner to the old mine site. We were pleased to find firstly number 4 adit and then number 2 adit in the dark. Underground the mine was a gem. By no means a mine to be taken lightly with hanging walls; flooded shafts and collapsed false floors.

Overground and for leisure too we spent a weekend in Wensleydale and spent two days out walking. First day was 10 miles in Gunnerside Gill, via the Coast to Coast Path to Swinner Gill in the most stunning weather:

The following day was out and about in Wensleydale for a 12 miler taking in: Aysgarth Falls; Pen Hill beacon and West Burton Falls:

It was also just fantastic to get back out on the River Tees again in open canoes after a ten year absence. it was as good as ever!
